Lin Feng still loves helping people but I guess it’s this kindness that gives him followers plus his strength of course.

He watched a bunch of people die, guess he didn't feel like helping them.

They made their choice after he warned them several times, they won one fight with a monster and he warned them again about a bigger threat they did not believe him and still proceeded to die. Their death is their fault for being stupid and being stubborn when they were warned.

It's just natural selection at its finest. Nothing to it xD

They eat the fat and slow ones first, remember this over winter.

I think it is more of a matter of him not wanting to rush ahead into danger. There is no guarantee that he could have rushed in to save them, its more likely he might have rushed in to his own death. I have read a lot of cultivation stories (not this one) and in these situations the mc is usually extremely cautious and that is the only way to stay alive. Its not really just watching them die when a group of idiots jump off a cliff. You are under no obligation to jump after them to your own death. I consider myself a moral person and a capable person, there has even been once or twice I took action in a manner that could be considered "heroic", but if it were me in that situation...I think I would hang back and be cautious like Lin Feng.
